Apple will be hosting a media event on September 7th. Bloomberg reports that they will be unveiling a new iTunes service that allows users to rent TV shows for 99 cents. These (Fox) shows will be yours to view for 48 hours. CBS, NBC & Disney may also be in on the deal.
The shows will be available within 24 hours of airing and will come commercial-free. In addition to this new service, Apple will reveal "an updated line of entertainment products" at the event. Expect an updated iPod touch with a retinal display and a $99 Apple TV with a smaller hard drive built for streaming off of iTunes.
New iPods weren't mentioned, but seem likely in the context of this news.
