Microsoft will increase the price of Xbox Live memberships starting on November 1st in the United States, Canada, Mexico and UK. The 1 Month Gold Subscription will then sell for $9.99 instead of $7.99. The 3 Month Gold Xbox Live subscription will cost $24.99 instead of $19.99. The 1-year Xbox Live Gold Subscription will jump by $10 to $59.99.
Microsoft's Major Nelson argues that Microsoft is offering now much more content and entertainment in Xbox Live since they launched the service in 2002. I price hike is therefore in order. Major Nelson points to nice offer for existing Xbox Gold members to upgrade their membership at a discount before the prices go up. You buy 12 month of Gold membership for only $39.99 here. This sounds like a great offer, but you can buy a 12-month Xbox Live Gold Subscription for the same price right now on Amazon too.
