Huawei is more known for its telecommunications hardware and not for phones. Today though the unveiled the IDEOS Android 2.2 smartphone. The Huawei IDEOS is supposed to be very affordable with pricing between $100 and $200. Huawei says that the IDEOS redefines the “entry-level” concept by combining high-quality hardware and software with a high price-to-performance ratio. IDEOS will be released in a number of countries across Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America and Latin America.
Huawei has already announced back in 2009 at the MWC an Android phone. I am not sure if that ever hit the market.
The Huawei IDEOS features HSPDA, Wi-fi, Wifi Hotspot functionality and it will come in black, yellow, blue, and purple. The press-release is not revealing more yet. The photo shows what Huawei announced at the MWC 2010. Not sure if the IDEOS has changed since then. I will update this story with more details once available. Huawei will exhibit at the IFA 2010 and sure also present the new IDEOS Android phone. Update: We received now photos of the IDEOS phone. See the gallery for hi-res shots of this budget Froyo phone.
