A company called Mobileye has unveiled a new camera system that is very similar to a system that Ford use sin some of its new cars. The system uses a camera that looks forward at the road to detect when a vehicle, pedestrian, or bicycle is in danger of being hit by the car.
When the camera recognizes that a collision is imminent, a display activates that faces towards the driver. The display flashes an icon to get the drivers attention to avoid the accident.
The camera from the system mounts behind the windshield and when activated has a warning tone as well as the flashing lights. The system can activate as much as two seconds before an impact.
