I like the idea of having my own robot as much as the next geek, but I draw the line at spending more than a nice home would cost. If you have been following the sweet PR2 robot from Willow Garage, you know the bot has only been offered to universities so far.
The PR2 is now available for purchase by anyone that has an extra $400,000 lying around to spend. That much loot gets you a big robot that can do stuff. It includes two arms with grippers, an omnidirectional mobile base, and a full sensor suite.
The sensors include a 5MP camera, a couple LIDAR sensors, and a lot more. The brains of the bot are a pair of onboard Xeon services with 8-cores each, 24GB of RAM each, and 2TB of storage apiece. The bot also comes with all the WiFi and networking stuff needed to control the robot.
