Acer & Android, together forever.

Acer believes that the future of the tablet market lies in Android. Digitimes reports that the company has come out with a "positive attitude" towards the creation and marketing of Android-based tablet PCs. They believe these slates have the potential to compete with the iPad.

In order to "test the waters", Acer will launch a Wintel-based tablet PC this holiday season, Q4 2010. They plan to follow up with an Android tablet in early 2011. Back in smartphones, Android will continue to be the manufacturer's main focus. They hope to send out two million devices in 2010 and 5-6 million in 2011.
