Qualcomm 1.5 GHz Chip: Not So Fast

Qualcomm's 1.5 GHz chip isn't due out quite as quickly as we'd first heard. After hearing it spoiled for Q4 2010 or Q1 2011, Qualcomm has leapt into damage control mode and warned SlashGear that they will NOT have the 1.5 GHz chips out until near the end of 2011. The chip will hit OEMs near the end of this year.

Qualcomm does have a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon chip due out within the first quarter of 2011. It will have dual-core application processors and support for 1080p HD video and decoding. That's not quite as awesome as a 1.5 GHz dual core, but somehow we'll manage. At least we know a steady stream of powerful, low voltage processors are due out over the next year.
