Nokia has announced a new headset for compatible smartphone form the company that run Symbian^3 like the coming Nokia N8. The headset is called the Nokia Mobile TV Headsest, DVB-H and is interesting in that not only will it allow the user to make and receive phone calls while wearing it, but it has an integrated TV tuner too.
The idea is that the external TV tuner will allow the user to view mobile TV content like sports and TV shows without having to pay for the data costs associated with mobile data network streaming or having to be near a WiFi network. The device has an external DVB-H digital TV tuner that works with an app on the phone.
The app is called Mobile TV and is on the Ovi store now for compatible devices. The headset is set to launch in Q4 2010 for €40. Nokia reminds people that are interested that DVB-H content isn’t available everywhere.
