TomTom launched its car kit for the iPhone back in October of 2009. When the device launched it was to support the iPhone 3G/3GS that was using the Tomtom GPS app. The car kit not only offered power for the iPhone and a dock for mounting the iPhone, it also offered improved GPS signal.
The catch for the folks that bought the car kit last year and have no upgraded to the iPhone 4 is that the iPhone 4 won’t fit into the car kit. TomTom has announced that it has a new adapter it is offering free to owners of the car kit that will make the iPhone 4 fit.
The adapter will be available to order starting tomorrow. The car kits that have sold since September 1 have the iPhone 4 adapter inside the package already.
