Anyone else hear that? It's the sound of funeral bells for Google. Facebook just overtook them in time spent in the United States. (TechRadar)
Okay, maybe it isn't quite that serious yet, but this does represent a major shift in the balance of power. Facebook is continuing to grow in user-base and it also saps more and more time from that userbase every year. The danger here is that insular Facebook browsing has the potential to create a sort of "splinternet". You can bet Google is watching this news very closely.
In all fairness, the one who really has to worry hear is Yahoo. Google's time spent is still quite high and rising at a fairly steady rate. Yahoo, on the other hand, has suffered mightily in the last two years. Make no mistake; this is a changing of the guard.
