Olympus has pulled the wraps off a new DSLR camera aimed at the pro photographer today called the E-5. The camera is housed in a rugged magnesium alloy body that is light and strong in addition to being splash resistant and dustproof.
The camera has a 12.3MP sensor and a 3-inch 920K dot resolution rear screen that can swivel for Live View shooting. The viewfinder shows 100% of what is in the camera shot. Ten creative filters are featured inside the camera with a new Dramatic Tone filter featured. The camera can also record HD video, which is a first for the Olympus E-series of cameras.
The cam uses the TruePic V+ image Processor to provide clear shots in all lighting conditions. Other features include optical image stabilization and HDMI output. The camera has wireless flash control and stores to CF cards and SDHC/SDXC cards as well. Shipment is set for October at $1400 for the body only.
