This is no piddling teaser leak. Redmond Pie reports that Microsoft has unleashed the beta for IE 9. You can download it now on both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows 7 and Vista.
IE9 is a very minimal browser. The new screen has a URL/Search button on the top and a back button, but nothing else is in immediate view. Some sites can be made "recognized" so that you can visit them straight from your desktop, as if they were an app. Tear-off tabs have also made their way into this new edition.
Will this new, simplified design be enough to stop IE from bleeding market share? The next few months should tell us for sure.
