The Samsung Android Tablet comes to Verizon in the coming weeks.

Samsung Galaxy Tab officially announced by Verizon Wireless

The first real competitor the the Apple Tablet enters the United States. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab Android Tablet at the IFA 2010 earlier this month. After a couple rumors, Verizon Wireless now officially announced the Galaxy Tab.

Verizon says that the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be shipping in the coming weeks. The carrier has not revealed the pricing yet, which is actually a very important aspect of the Galaxy Tab ability to compete with the iPad.

Equipped with a 7-inch touch screen and a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird Application processor, the Galaxy Tab will provide you with a robust HTML Web browsing experience.The Tablet runs Android 2.2 (Froyo) and of course supports Adobe Flash 10.1 Other features include 3MP camera, 1.3MP front facing camera, Wi-Fi, 2GB internal memory, bundled 16GB microSD card and 4,000mAh battery.

Verizon Wireless will introduce the Galaxy Tab with a number of exclusive applications such as V CAST Music with Rhapsody, V CAST Video on Demand, V CAST Song ID, VZ Navigator, along with games “Let’s Golf” and “N.O.V.A.”

Verizon is not the only carrier to offer the Galaxy Tab. According to ZDNet all four major US carriers will offer the Samsung Android Tablet.

This is of course a major advantage of the Galaxy Tab to be available on several carreiers and not just be locked into AT&T like the Apple iPad.
