Firmware version 3.50 will hit the PS3 tomorrow. Everyone knows this as the update that will add full support for playback of Blu-ray 3D movies, but it also adds a handful of other notable enhancements.
First of all, PlayStation Plus will get a new dedicated interface in the PlayStation Store so subscribers to the premium online service can more easily see what deals and free trials are available exclusively to them.
Additionally, the Web browser will be updated to allow users to control it with a Move controller. Facebook integration is also getting an upgrade, allowing users better access to their online social network profile.
On the 3D side, there's an update for 3D games as well. If users select a 3D game, there will now be a pop-up screen notifying users of this compatibility.
And finally, there are a couple of minor updates: if users encounter one of the PS3's more common errors, the error notification will now provide more detailed information. Additionally, an icon for Sony's new Qriocity music service will appear under the "Music" section. It will be inactive until the service actually launches, though.
It is a major upgrade as many PlayStation Network services will be knocked offline for most of the day tomorrow.
