That's a lot
Anyone who still thinks the iPhone/iPad isn't a solid gaming platform needs to look no further than Gameloft's press release today. In just two years, the publisher says it has sold 20 million games in Apple's App Store.
How To: Buy a Pokemon Go Plus
That's amidst around 100 games that Gameloft has released since the launch of the digital storefont in July 2008. Games like Let's Golf! and Brothers in Arms were among the top sellers.
Gameloft launched as a mobile phone game developer, back in the days when no one in the US actually played games on their cell phones. Remember those days? It then branched off to develop downloadable games for the Wii, followed the the PS3 and Xbox 360 and now it creates full packaged games as well. But where it all comes full circle for Gameloft is on the iPhone App Store.
Anyway, here's what Gameloft had to say about its incredible sales milestone:
"The launch of the iPad and iPhone 4 has opened new horizons for developers and allowed us once again to transform our consumers gaming experience. 20 million paid downloads is proof that our games meet the expectations of our players and we will continue to satisfy them."
In addition to creating original content, Gameloft is also the go-to company for many companies with licensed content looking to get their product on the iPhone. The NFL, Spider-Man, and Assassin's Creed have all gone through Gameloft's doors when it comes to iPhone development and production.
