Despicable Me, the heartwarming animated flick of the summer movie season, will be coming to home video on December 14th, with standard Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D being released simultaneously.
It appears the Blu-ray 3D version will be identical to the standard Blu-ray release - including the extra discs for DVD and digital copy versions.
It's good to see Blu-ray 3D content finally coming out in a big way. Monster House and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs are already on store shelves and studios are finally announcing other titles coming out to general retail. Some movies remain tied to specific 3D TV bundles because of exclusivity contracts with TV manufacturers.
But by the end of the holiday season, the number of Blu-ray 3D movies on the shelves should be in the double digits. Creating a presence among the rest of the Blu-ray crowd is important to get casual consumers more interested in 3D TVs and the media accessible therein.
