The new Apple TV is set to arrive at the first owners soon.

Apple unveiled the new $99 Apple TV on September 1st. The Apple Store still states that the Apple TV ships in 2-3 weeks, but customers report that Apple has started charging their credit cards. This is an indicator that Apple is preparing the shipments of the new Apple TV.

The new Apple TV runs on iOS and besides iTunes you can stream content from Netflix and YouTube to your HD TV. The new Apple TV has built-in HDMI, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and an internal power supply for easy set-up. The Apple TV is also key to the new AirPlay feature that will be available in iOS 4.2 coming this November. With AirPlay you can watch content stored or streaming on your iPad or iPhone on the Apple TV connected HDTV.
