An indestructible 5.6" slate.

Panasonic has just introduced a new Toughbook CF-U1 (via Electronista) to their line-up of super durable computers. This baby packs a 5.6" transflective (like the Pixel Qi) touchscreen display with 6,000 nit brightness and a 1.6 GHz Z530 Atom processor. Storage is through a 64 GB SSD and 2 GB of RAM.

Windows 7 is the OS and the U1 has a 2 MP optional camera with auto-focus and white balance. All versions of the U1 meet US Military MIL-STD-810G specifications, as well as civilian IP65 standards for dust, shock and water resistance. WiFi and Bluetooth come standard, and Gobi2000 mobile broadband is optional.

A Toughbook U1 will set you back between $1900 and $2800, depending on the options you choose.
