Sony calls it the World's First Internet Television, are they nuts?

Sony showed a Google TV prototype at the IFA 2010 last month. Now CNET reports that Sony invited the press to an event on October 12th to unveil what they call the "World's First Internet Television". Internet enabled TVs are around since over 12 years. I have personally helped develop one back in the 90s. Sony is apparently not adopting the Smart TV moniker Samsung and LG have pushed at the IFA as name for connected TVs.

Sony would be better off calling the new TV what it is: a Google TV. The fight this Fall is between the new Apple TV box and Google TV devices. Logitech will bring a setop box called Logitech Revue. Sony is also supposed to unveil a Google TV Blu-ray player.
