Patriot Convoy Storage Device Slips inside a 5.25-inch Bay

Patriot has introduced an interesting new storage device for desktop computers. The device is called the Convoy series and it is a chassis that fits inside a 5.25" drive bay on a desktop computer. The Convoy comes in two models including the 425XL and the 425S.

Both of the storage devices have four drive bays that support 2.5-inch HDDs and SSDs up to 12.5mm thick. The drive bays are hot swappable and the difference between the two is RAID functionality.

The 425XL supports RAID 0/1/3/5/10 JBOD and the 425S has no RAID support. When fitted with Inferno SSDs Patriot claims the 425XL hit 240K IOPS in testing. This is a cool way to get more storage in your desktop computer and take advantage of some of your empty 5.25" drive bays.
