One of the things that was working against the Kobo eReader was that it lacked WiFi while competing products offered wireless connectivity. Today that deficit has been fixed with the announcement of a WiFi version of the reader called the Kobo Wireless eReader.
The device gets WiFi connectivity to allow the user to access books from a wireless network. The device also gets some upgraded hardware and a longer battery life. The wireless version sells for $139.99 and can be preordered now at Borders and online. Shipping for the device is set for October with three colors offered.
The new version of the eReader turns pages 2.5x faster than the older version. The screen is also sharper with 16-greyscale and is 6-inches wide with eInk tech. The battery is now good for 10,000 page turns on a single charge with wireless off.
