Specifications

The Star Trek Enterprise Pizza Cutter has a 4-inch round blade made from stainless steel and the handle is zinc-alloy that is chrome plated. The cutter is designed to look like the Enterprise from the original series and it is all kinds of awesome. You can order the Star Trek Enterprise Pizza Cutter right now for $24.99.

In Use

I have to admit, that it feels strange to be so excited about pizza cutter. We eat lots of pizza around my house and for over the last decade I have been using the same pizza cuter that my wife and I received as a wedding gift. To say that old pizza cutter sucked would be an understatement. I often had to saw back and forth with the thing to get it to cut through the pizza the blade was so dull and small.

When I spied the Star Trek Enterprise Pizza Cutter surface over at ThinkGeek, I knew I had to have one. The gang at ThinkGeek was kind enough to shoot one my way and boy am I glad they did. As soon as I pulled the box the Star Trek Enterprise Pizza Cutter is placed in from the shipping container, I knew it was something special. The pizza cutter is heavy in the hand and more comfortable than the starship design might make you believe it is. I could totally saw the ridges on a Klingon's head down with this thing.

The circular 4-inch blade is laser etched with the NCC-1701 markings and cuts through pizza quicker than a Tribble can give birth. The only real downside to the thing is that you can't just toss it into the dishwasher, you have to hand wash the cutter. As long as you do it while the pizza is fresh on the blade a stream of hot water and a bit of soap will do the deed. Set it aside and wait a few days and you will be wishing you could just put it in the dishwasher.

The Star Trek Enterprise Pizza Cutter seems to be well made so you should be able to cut through those thick crusts without worrying you will break the handle. You should be able to cut pizza with it for years to come. I can only hope that ThinkGeek will launch a matching ice cream scoop that looks like a Bird of Prey!

Verdict

Pros

  • Too cool to hide in a drawer
  • Nicely weighted
  • Laser etched blade

Cons

  • Hand wash only

Conclusion

If you are a fan of Star Trek and Pizza, I am frankly surprised you are still reading rather than on the ThinkGeek website ordering this Star Trek Enterprise Pizza Cutter right now. It's as awesome as you think it is, trust me.
