Sprint ID service is live.

Sprint and Samsung have just sent out a press release announcing the launch of a sweet new Android smartphone. The Samsung Transform will be one of the first "premium" phones to use Sprint ID. This service lets customers download "ID packs" loaded with apps, widgets, ringtones and wallpapers. Packs vary from brand-specific to custom packages and up to five can be loaded on each phone.

The Samsung Transform packs a sliding QWERTY keyboard and a 3.5" HVGA touchscreen display. It has a 3.2 MP rear camera with flash and camcorder and a VGA front-facing camera. The Transform will launch with Android 2.1 and be updated to 2.2 later this year. It comes with a 2 GB microSD card and costs $149.99 with a 2-year contract and a $100 rebate.
