Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal made a bold announcement that the Verizon iPhone was real and in production. Later that day, at Verizon's LTE event, a company spokesperson attempted to quash the rumor. Today it is back with a vengeance, thanks to a new article in the WSJ.

Now they're reporting that "AT&T is about to lose its lock on the iPhone". People "familiar" with Apple have stated that the company is building a Verizon Wireless version of the iPhone to sell in early 2011. This phone will be a CDMA iPhone 4.
Verizon's guy did say that "at some point" he expected Apple and Big Red to see their business interests "align". The Droid had better look out. iOS might be taking off its kiddy gloves.
