The Radius Atomic Bass 2 + Mic earphones I am reviewing today have 10mm neodymium magnets and a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz. The sensitivity for the earphones is 103 db/mW and the impedance is 32 ohms. The earphones have a 3.5mm plug and a built-in mic for making calls. The cable is 120cm long and they ship with a carry case and three ear tip sizes for $39.99.
I have used headphones from Radius before and come away impressed. Today is no different. I have mentioned many items with reviews of audio gear that I like some bass in my music. Many earphone and headphones on the market simply fall flat when it comes to playing bass heavy tracks.
Thankfully, the Radius Atomic Bass 2 + Mic earphones don’t fall flat. The bass production of these earphones is one of their main draws and they do a fantastic job. The bass is deep and thumping, you can almost feel it in your head when you hear it. The last set of earphones I tried for the maker had similar levels of bass.
Despite the deep bass offered, the earphones have a very well rounded and natural sound. You can hear the vocals clearly and the mids and high sounds go well with the deep bass. I would have been impressed with these headphones at more than twice the $39.99 asking price. It is very impressive that the price of the Radius Atomic Bass 2 + Mic earphones is so low, yet the sound quality is so high.
This set of earphones also has a mic integrated into it for making calls while you are wearing the earphones. The mic is positioned near the mouth and does its job well. It does pick up some background sounds, but in most situations, you can be heard clearly without ant issues. I tested the Radius Atomic Bass 2 + Mic earphones with my iPhone 3GS and had no issues at all with the performance of the earphones.
The carry case that comes with the set is very nice with a mesh back and a zipper to keep things in place. You get three different sizes of ear tips so you can get a comfortable and secure fit. The one thing I did miss with the Radius Atomic Bass 2 + Mic earphones was inline controls for volume and track. That feature certainly went by the wayside in an effort to get the cost down. I think many of us will give up that remote for the sound quality offered at a bargain price. I highly recommend the Radius Atomic Bass 2 + Mic earphones, they are top notch.
I have tested earphones costing three times as much as the Radius Atomic Bass 2 + Mic earphones and not come away any happier than I am with the Radius Atomic Bass 2 + Mic earphones. This set of earphones is fantastic and perfect for the shopper not wanting to break the bank, but wanting great sound.
