Earlier today we reported that Sony Ericsson owes much of their success to the Android OS. The company is back in the black and looking to become the number one provider of handsets packing that open source OS. But that doesn't mean they're turning their back on other platforms entirely.
Electronista reports that, during a conference call with investors, CEO Bert Nordberg confirmed that his company would hav a Windows Phone 7 device in 2011. No further details were given, nor do we know what TIME in 2011 we can expect these new smartphones. Ericsson may end up missing the boat once more here.
Or they could end up dodging a bullet. If WP7 folds and fails, HTC and LG and, to a lesser extent, Samsung are going to feel the hurt. Ericsson can't really afford that right now, precarious as their position is. They need to focus on the safe, proven money and market share that Android can throw their way.
