Best Buy First Spark Kids Laptop is now on Sale

In September we reported that Best Buy partnered with Toshiba to develop a laptop optimized for kids. The First Spark Toshiba L635 Kids PC as a full-size laptop made for children aged 5 to 10 that provides a suite of entertainment and education software and allows parents to help ensure their children are staying safe on the Web.

I totally like the concept of a Laptop for kids that is based on a normal Windows 7 laptop. It would have been nice though if the specifications of the Toshiba Satellite L635 were a bit more up to date. As the target is kids under the age of ten the performance of the First Spark Laptop should suffice.

The Toshiba L635 runs on an Intel Celeron P4600 with 2GHz and features 2GB RAM, 13.3-inch LED backlit screen with 1,366x768px, 250GB HDD, Intel HD Graphics GPU, Webcam, card reader, Wi-fi 802.11n and a battery life of over 4 hours.

Best Buy and Toshiba preloaded the First Spark with Net Nanny Internet filter service (1yr), KidZui Internet browser for kids (1yr), Disney Toy Story 2 movie, The Princess and the Frog movie and Lego Batman video game.

The Best Buy First Spark Kids Laptop is now shipping for $499.99 on Best Buy online.
