Forget Snow Leopard. Lion is where it's at now. Eventually Apple will run out of cat names for OS X. That day is far away though.
Lion will make use of Mac's new integration with the App Store, and will also work to bridge the gap between OS X and iOS. One way is with LaunchPad, which supports full-screen apps, and mission control- which brings Expose, Dashboard and Spaces together. Everything pertinent will be on display at once, all the time.
If you've grown used to the file management system on your iPhone, you're in luck- apps will be organized and grouped into folders in OS X the same way they are in iOS. That, plus multitouch gestures on the trackpad, means Lion will be comfortably familiar to millions of iOS lovers.
