If you're one of the 850 faculty-and-staff members who live in Stanford University's residential village, Google is about to give you a beautiful gift. They claim they can deliver a 1 Gbps connection to these lucky few.
Construction is set to start in 2011. Google views this as sort of a beta test of the technology they intend to deliver with Google Fiber.
