Garmin and Asus called it quits last week on co-branded phones. At the time, it seemed that the two were parting ways and would continue without any cooperation. Today Garmin and Asus have announced that they will continue to work together.
The two firms will no longer create and sell co-branded phones, but Asus will continue to build Android phones with Garmin tech. Asus will use Garmin GPS software inside its smartphones. The two companies developed and marketed six devices together during their run.
All of the devices were crap for the most part and consumers stayed away in droves. I have to wonder if Asus is capable of making an appealing smartphone alone any more than it was able to make on when working with Garmin.
