IOS 4.2 Update Goes Gold, Release Could Be Already In One Week

Reports appear that Apple has released the iOS 4.2 gold master to developers. Based on past Apple release cycles, the final iOS 4.2 update could be released already next week. iOS 4.2 is the all important update for the iPad to make it as functional as the iPhone and iPod touch when it comes to multi-tasking, folders and more.

iOS 4.2 will also bring the very cool AirPlay and AirPrint features to iOS devices. AppAdvice collected the new changes that have been spotted in this iOS 4.2 release. There are new controls for the iPod feature in the multitasking bar, you can create Apple IDs in the MobileMe Panel, enhance parental control and AirPlay in the Youtube app is back in this build. AirPlay for Youtube is right now only enabled for sound.

Apple is also busy preparing an OS X update dubbed 10.6.5. It is possible that both updates will be released at the same time as there are possible dependencies.
