It is said Tablets will kill netbooks and push them into the niche category. If this will be the case this holiday shopping season remains to be seen. An iPad starts at $499 and the reasonable choices amongst Android Tablets are at the same price point or even higher. A typical netbook sells for under $300 right now. During last year's Black Friday $199 Netbooks were available. Target offered an Acer Aspire One with Intel Atom N270 CPU at 1.6Ghz, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM, 10.1-inch WSVGA screen, 3-cell battery and Windows XP for $199.
Brand-name Tablets will not even meet the $300 price-point this year. That gives Netbooks a lot of room to thrive this Holiday shopping season. Now it is on the retailers to make great Black Friday netbook deals. The Black Friday sales season is still young, but I have not seen an outstanding netbook deal yet. There are already great Black Friday laptop deals, but netbook deals are lagging. We have still managed to put together a list of netbooks that are interesting buys right now. We will update this Black Friday netbook deals guide as soon as new deals appear. See the netbook deals below.
The typical netbook under $300 runs on an Atom N450 CPU, has 1GB DDR2 RAM and Wi-Fi 802.11g.
The newer generations of netbooks like the Asus 1015PEM are still priced above $300 featuring the N550 Atom CPU and DDR3 RAM. Maybe we will see these newer netbook with more performance and battery life under $300 during the Black Friday sales season.
We have already seen that retailers are again selling Windows XP netbooks. XP was nice, I used it for years, but Windows 7 has been here for a while now and it works well. A new netbook should come with Windows 7. The XP netbooks are out-dated, but are currently the cheapest netbook choices.
