Call of Duty: Black Ops has more Pre-orders than the Record-breaking MW2

Call of Duty: Black Ops is on the way to become the biggest entertainment launch in history. This title is held so far by Modern Warefare 2, which sold 4.7 million copies in the first 24 last year.

In October GameStop already said the pre-orders for Black Ops are higher than those for MW2 in the same time frame. Today Amazon tweeted that Black Ops also has more pre-orders than MW2 had. It should be save to imply that COD: Black Ops has now overall more pre-orders than MW2 had shortly before launch.
All points towards Black Ops becoming the biggest entertainment launch on Tuesday, November 9th. It still amazes me that especially the war inspired first-person shooters have the biggest following. What happened to playing a nice and friendly game with Mario?

Black Ops is the new biggest entertainment launch in history. The new COD game sold more copies during launch day than MW2.

The setup for Call of Duty: Black Ops are historically representative fictional Black Ops missions of the Cold War era. Created with the input of actual Black Ops soldiers from the time, the game mixes traditional Call of Duty tactical shooter gameplay with new gameplay options designed to expand the players' experience. Additional features include extensive multiplayer options, along with new vehicles and explosive new weapons.

Amazon still offers Call of Duty: Black Ops with 300 Pre-order Bonus Points (translate into $20 video game credit). Real fans should check out the Black Ops Prestige edition, which comes with a RC vehicle with integrated working video camera.
