The Samsung Convoy U540 features fast 3G connectivity because of the reliable Verizon Wireless EV-DO, Rev A network. It meets military specifications 810f standards for shock and dust resistance, vibration, salt fog, humidity, solar radiation, altitude and low and high temperature storage. The Convoy U540 features push to talk capability, which enables you to quickly connect with one or multiple team members at the same time with just a push of a button.

With the Convoy U540, you can place group calls with as many as 50 total people. You can also check team member status with Presence, which allows you to see who is available for push to talk. You also get GPS navigation capabilities via VZ Navigator service. The phone is a clamshell phone with internal 2.2-inch display. It also features an external 1.3-inch color display that gives the current time, battery life, signal strength, and incoming calls. The phone also includes external music playback controls.

The phone features a 2-megapixel camera/camcorder. It also features a digital audio player for MP3, WMA and unprotected AAC/AAC+ formats.
