Sony Ericsson ANZU leaked, is this X10 replacement?

When it comes to smartphones there are no shortage of choices. The sad thing about smartphones is that they are not all created equal. The last thing anyone wants is to buy a crap smartphone. Android devices are very popular, and with good reason. They all tend to work very well and there is a ton of support and lots of cool apps.

Android devices are single handedly helping some failing brands bring the luster back to their names. Motorola was hurting badly until it started producing some of the coolest Android devices out there. Sony Ericsson is another brand that has had a hard time competing on the global smartphone market due to handsets that just aren’t that great. SE is starting to turn a corner though with some new smartphones that run Android and seeing some success.

One of its more recent smartphones is the Xperia X10. The device has been reasonably successful with lots of people looking forward to getting new OS updates that bring new features to the device. Sony Ericsson is undoubtedly at worked on the replacement for the X10 and according to a new rumor and some leaked pics that have surfaced; the replacement may be what you see here dubbed the ANZU.

We really have no idea what the device is like on the inside. All we can glean from these leaked shots is that this phone is running Android 2.1, sports a 4.3-inch screen, and has HDMI output. That is a big screen for the smartphone world and if the device ever makes it into reality, you can count on it being popular with the multimedia fans out there.

According to the source of the leak, the handset pictured here is a mid-development piece and the final product could be very different from what we are seeing. The source also states that the device is very slim, which is a good thing, we all like svelte smartphones. When the smartphone has such a big screen, a thin profile makes it easier to fit the thing into your pocket. Sony Ericsson is said to be aiming at a Q1 2011 release for the smartphone, but only time will tell if that turns out to be accurate. We are taking this leak with a grain of salt at this point, but the leaked details have us interested for sure.
