Today I am going to check out the Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones. These headphones are made to connect to stereo system component and smaller music devices like the iPhone or iPods. If you want a full size set of headphones that have style and decent sound, the Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones may be perfect for you. Read on for all of the details.

Specifications

The Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones sell for $69.99 and come in black and red. The drivers are 57mm units and the impedance is 64 ohms. Frequency response is 15Hz to 30 KHz and the headphones come with a 3.5mm cable and a 6.3mm adapter. You can order the headphones right now.

In Use

The Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones are very colorful with the black and red design. They have a little character on the headband that is white and reminds me of an alien skull. The Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones are full size and have padded ear cups that wrap around the ear. The cups are padded well and are comfortable to wear for extended periods.

Each of the ear cups will fold flat making the Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones smaller for storage. The long cable is a coiled cord that springs back like an old-fashioned phone cord. The cord has a 3.5mm headphone plug by default that will work with iPods and the iPhone along with any other 3.5mm device. If you want to use the Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones on stereo gear that has a larger 6.3mm plug, an adapter is included.

The headband is adjustable and is padded for comfort as well. The sound quality is what most people really want to know about. The Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones don't have the deepest bass I have ever heard. The drivers seem to be tuned more to high and mid range sounds. My test track sounded good, I expected more bass than the Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones delivered though. The highs were much louder than on some other headphones so this might be a better choice for users who don't want tons of bass in their music.

My test pair of headphones were black and red. The design looks good, though they are a bit wild. You can also get the Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones in blue and white, green and white, and a more subdued solid black hue. The full-size headphones don’t weigh as much as the look like they might and coupled with the well-padded ear cups and headband you can wear these for hours in comfort.

The thickly padded ear cups also do a good job of blocking out some of the external sounds in the room. Overall, the Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones are a nice set of earphones. If bass is your thing, Subjekt makes headphones with better bass quality. If you want style and sound more tuned for high and mid range the Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones are for you.

Verdict

Pros

  • Comfortable
  • Works with MP3 players and stereo components

Cons

  • Bass is weaker than comparably priced headphones

Conclusion

If you want headphones that focus more on vocals than bass, the Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones might be ideal. These headphones are comfortable and can be worn for extended periods easily.
