Apple launched the download of the new iTunes 10.1 update that brings AirPlay support to iTunes. If the rumors are true we still have to wait until next week to actually be able to use AirPlay on the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. The iOS 4.2 update is supposed to come next Tuesday and not today. So Apple is getting as ready for the new iOS 4.2 features step by step. On Tuesday we got the OS X 10.6.5 update and today we get a new iTunes.
Owners of the new Apple TV can though already use AirPlay on their Apple computers today with iTunes 10.1. With AirPlay you can instantly and wirelessly stream videos from iTunes to to the Apple TV. Have fun with that.
Besides the AirPlay feature iTunes 10.1 is necessary to able to sync iOS 4.2 updated iPods, iPads and iPhones.
Apple also says that iTunes 10.1 has a number of important stability and performance improvements.
The iTunes 10.1 update has a 55MB size and is now available in your iTunes software update.
