Netflix streaming is already available on almost anything that can connect to the internet unless it runs on Androod. Today Netflix announced Netflix streaming to come to select Android devices early 2011.
In a blog post Netflix complains about the lack of a generic and complete platform security and content protection mechanism available for Android. This is why Netflix will only become available on select Android phones and not on all. Netflix did not specify which Android phones comply.
Netflix has an extremely strong platform support. Besides TVs and video game consoles, they even managed to get Apple to offer their service on the new Apple TV.The strategy to be available in all kinds of TVs, setop bosxes and on phones makes Netflix extremely strong. Other video streaming service have a hard time to compete with this.
