Cyber Monday is still a Secret to One-third of Shoppers

Cyber Monday is marketed as the biggest online sales event and the numbers speak for itself. Last year according to Comscore consumers spent $887 million at online retailers. A new survey from our partner Dealnews (Reuters, full survey results) revealed that one-third of questioned shoppers do not know Cyber Monday. We anyway think Cyber Thanksgiving Day is more important to find the best deals.

Cyber Monday 2010 is on Nov. 29 following the Black Friday sales weekend. The term Cyber Monday, which was created by (part of the National Retail Federation) made it into the retailer marketing strategies back in November of 2005. Cyber Monday is a huge online shopping day no doubt about it, but it does not necessarily mean you find the best deals on that day.
We see a trend that the best online deals are actually available on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday morning. Retailers are releasing many of their Black Friday deals during Thanksgiving Day night and lots of these deals have not been coming back on Cyber Monday last year.

I recommend to shop on Thanksgiving Day online first and use Cyber Monday as a backup online shopping day. We still do not know any Cyber Monday 2010 deals yet. They usually get unveiled after Black Friday. Of course we will be covering the best Cyber Monday 2010 deals.
