The Sony PSP is alive and kicking in Japan. According to the latest video game hardware charts the Sony PSP sold over 40,300 units last week beating the Wii which sold 39,300 units. The week before the PS only sold 11,500 units.
The reason for the dramatic increase is the release of the Sony PSP game Tactics Ogre from Square Enix. The PSP only game sold over 176,000 copies last week. This shows how important great games are for hardware sales. For the detailed sales numbers see GamesIndustry.Biz.
I predict that the Sony PSP will see decent sales numbers this holiday season in the United States. On Black Friday a $129 Sony PSP Holiday Bundle will go on sale. The Sony PSP Holiday bundle will be released on Black Friday and contains a PSP-3000 console, Little Big Planet Game, Karate Kid UMD and 1GB Memory stick.
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together is supposed to be released in the United States on March 31st, 2011. You an pre-order the game on Amazon.
