Will CES 2011 Revolutionize Guitar Training?

Imagine taking guitar lessons from your computer! Now imagine the lessons not sucking! That's the dream Raw Talent Guitar claims to make a reality. This training system will be unveiled at the CES 2011 awards show, with a release date coming during the show itself. It includes a guitar-to-USB cable that works on any electric guitar / Windows PC combo.

The soul of the system is the RT Evaluator, which measures the students sound input and compares it to the instructor. It provides a percentage score for comparative purposes, which allows you to continuously monitor your progress. Also included is something called the guitar-to-USB Stealth Plug and AmpliTube, which appears to hook your guitar into your computer's sound output.

The Raw Talent system comes with fifteen bonus songs from Boston, Oasis and The Clash. The current program comes with pre-loaded instructions from Padraig O'Kane. It has a metronome, digital tuner and chord generator.

This sort of system will really come into its own when it allows human instructors to work with students in real-time. You'd be able to see exactly where you matched them and where you came up short, and webcam functionality would allow for actual instructions. They could even monitor finger positions and store information on past lessons for later study.

Raw Talent Guitar will have its chance to wow the world in January. Until then, you'll have to keep plucking away without the aid of your PC.
