There's a suspicious package from HTC making its way around to bloggers and journalists all over the country. Don't worry, this package won't shut down any airport terminals. All it will do is confirm that HTC's PR team is doing a-ok in the creativity department.
As seen in the above picture from PhoneDog.com, HTC is teasing people by sending out a cell-phone-shaped box but there's no cell phone inside. Instead, there are these very easily understandable products:
- A postcard of the Android logo in front of the Las Vegas skyline
- A sticker of a penguin and frozen yogurt, with the words "Froyo lover"
- An Android plush toy
- Four keychains with the letter "G" on them (we see what you did there)
So, four "G" keychains...4G keychains? A picture of Las Vegas. Where is CES held again? And doesn't Froyo refer to version 2.2 of the Android operating system? By Jove, I think we've got it! HTC will be revealing a 4G Android phone at CES in Las Vegas! And that Android plush is just something for the bloggers to coo over.
Of course, 4G is going to be an enormous part of next month's huge trade show, and all the big mobile players will have something to say about it. Anyone who's anyone will have a 4G product to display, and HTC is definitely someone.
The only question is what mobile carrier it has picked from the 4G roulette for its next entry in the new frontier. The company has already created 4G phones for Sprint, so that wouldn't be anything exciting.
For now, we'll just have to wait and see. And we'll admire HTC's creative spirit in the meantime.
