The Lenovo U1 hybrid slate was a huge hit at CES 2010. But delay after delay led many to speculate that it would end up as nothing but vaporware. We've heard little from Lenovo on the matter since. But today, the company sent out press releases announcing the availability of the U1 in Q1 2011. China is one confirmed region, and I'm waiting to hear back from Lenovo on when we'll see this baby hit the US.
The LePad slate brags 8 hours of battery life, a 10.1" touchscreen, Android 2.2, 1 GB of DDR3 RAM and a 1.3 GHz Snapdragon processor. It has a 2 MP camera on front and a SIM slot. Storage options are 16 GB and 32 GB. You can choose from white or scarlet, and brown or black leather "texture". The laptop base packs a 1.2 GHz dual-core CULV processor, 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 320 GB HDD.
Expect the slate alone to cost $520, while the slate+laptop should set you back $1300. I'll be meeting with a Lenovo rep tomorrow, so check back for a hands-on video and my impressions then.
