Volkswagen launched this week a rather funny web video series dubbed Inside the VW Academy. The series stars comedian Bill Hader known from SNL. Bill Hader is paired with trained Volkswagen product specialist Danielle Gumro. Each episode is featuring a new car from Volkswagen. Calling the series an academy is pretty fitting as besides the funny lines you actually get filled up with the highlights of each car.
The series is made up of eighteen videos in total, the first nine branded entertainment clips have launched on January 5th. The first nine videos feature the all-new 2011 Jetta, 2011 Tiguan and the 2011 Touareg. Each model will be featured in three videos that highlight key features, safety, performance and technology, and each video shows a competitive comparison. The content will provide factual details interspersed with humorous dialog and comedic improv. Consumers will also be able to post the videos via YouTube and Facebook. Additional videos will launch in March.
Last year VW launched a web video series featuring Sluggy Patterson the inventor of the "Punch Dub" game in the wake of the Super Bowl. The VW Super Bowl 2010 ad was around the same concept. So maybe Bill Hader will make an appearance in the VW Super Bowl 2011 ad.
You can watch a VW Academy with Bill Hader episode below featuring the 2011 Tiguan. All VW Academy episodes are available in the VW Youtube channel.
Just like last year, I4U News will be featuring again the Super Bowl for Geeks Guide. Of course the Super Bowl 2011 for Geeks Guide will be all about the Super Bowl Commercials and not the big game. The Super Bowl XLV will take place in the Dallas Cowboys stadium on February 6th 2011.
