Toyota Debuts New Prius Family of Hybrids in Detroit

Toyota has shown off new Prius family of cars in Detroit today. The new line includes the Prius third generation, and the plug-in hybrid version of the Prius along with the new Prius v mid-size hybrid. The new midsize Prius looks a bit like a small van to me.

The Prius v is a vehicle designed for versatility with 50% more cargo space than the current Prius has. It is made for great aerodynamics to help with fuel efficiency. The v has 34.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats making it have more space than some SUVs according to Toyota.

The new v can also be had with a large panoramic sunroof and has a lot of other high tech features. The new Prius will also be one of the first Toyotas to get the Entune multimedia system. The system is web connected and can connect to your smartphone and more. Early specs on the v give it 98hp from the 1.8L four-cylinder and 80hp for the electric motor for a combined hybrid power rating of 134hp. Fuel economy is set at 42mpg city and 38mpg on the highway.
