I thought it was interesting when the demand and popularity for music games like Guitar Hero grew to the point where artists were interested in composing songs just for the game. Megadeth and Soundgarden both did this for the Warrior's of Rock Guitar Hero game by Activision.
I haven't heard either of the tracks, but apparently, the exclusive in game tracks were good because both of them have been nominated for Grammy awards. I guess I always though in game tracks were either classic and popular tunes or the "B" side tracks that no one thought would do well.
You can get the Soundgarden track "Black Rain" for free in MP3 format on the Guitar Hero Facebook page right now as a celebratory gift to fans for the nomination. “From the first time I played Guitar Hero in Paris several years ago until recently getting my ass handed to me playing at an Activision event in San Francisco, this has been the most fun and most rewarding track I have ever written,” said Dave Mustaine of Megadeth.
