Starbucks has been testing payments for drinks in its stores using mobile phones around the country in a few select areas for a while now. The coffee house has announced today that it is now rolling the mobile payments capability out to all stores in the country.
Using the new official Starbucks app for the iPhone and Blackberry devices you can scan your smartphone screen at checkout to pay for your drink. Starbucks says that the app is coming later for Android as well.
During testing of the app, Starbucks claims that the mobile app was the fastest way for users to pay for their drinks and get out of the store. The app can be loaded with money from a credit card or from PayPal and can be downloaded right now to try out.
