LG is trying to work its up to the top of the 3D craze, with reports coming in now that the company plans to release an Android-powered autostereoscopic 3D tablet within the next few months.
According to French website GPSandCo, an LG spokesperson has confirmed that the company's impending G-Slate tablet will have just such a display, measuring in at 8.9 inches.
Glasses-free 3D is going to be one of the big stories for 2011. Nintendo will be the first to mass market penetration with the 3DS, and now everyone else is eying the technology.
What's more interesting about the G-Slate is, according to the report, it will be able to record 3D movies as well, so you'll be able to playback your own real-life moments like never before. Now there's a catch that the iPad can't compete with.
Other details for the tablet include a 1 GHz processor, Nvidia's Tegra 2 processor and a microUSB port. Also - get this - it's going to sell for just $299, making it significantly cheaper than the iPad or Galaxy Tab. It's even being suggested it will have 4G connectivity.
It's been a while since we've seen LG bring out something that really made a splash, but if all these G-Slate rumors are true, it'll catapult the company to front-page status.
The G-Slate is currently slated for release soon, potentially by the end of the first quarter.
