The Mobile World Congress 2011 will see a new MeeGo smartphone with a righteous Intel 1.2 GHz processor on-board. This new phone- possibly with a 12 MP camera and LTE, will be Nokia's shot at breaking into the US smartphone market.
And now Twitter has seen the leak of a photo from an Intel sales conference that reveals a mystery smartphone packing the Medfield Atom processor. The Medfield is billed as being the first Intel chip to match ARM in power use.
Rumor has it, the Medfield is the same 1.2 GHz processor we'll see in the N9. If so, MWC will see the launch of three big firsts at once. The first MeeGo handset, the first Medfield handset, and Nokia's first concerted strike on the US smartphone market.
The question is, can MeeGo drive the N9 to success? MWC 2011 will be a huge show for MeeGo and Nokia. If the former doesn't take off, the latter's future prospects don't look so hot.
