If you have you heart set on a green vehicle that runs mostly for electricity, but you don’t trust the 70 odd mile range of a pure EV like the Nissan Leaf, the Volt might be just what you need. The Volt plugs in to charge and can drive all you want using a gas generator.
Chevy has announced that Volt demo vehicles are arriving at dealerships. Dealers in initial launch areas of California, Connecticut, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Virginia and Washington, D.C. will all be getting their hands on a demo vehicle for potential customers to drive over the next few weeks.
During Q1 2011 Chevy will deliver a total of 550 Volt demo vehicles to Chevy dealers and by the end of 2011 there will be over 2500 dedicated demo vehicles in the US at Chevy dealers. The total driving range of the Volt is 379 miles and it can go for 35 miles on electricity alone.
